Bitcoin Breakout Faces a Critical Trendline Test
Bitcoin breakout conditions are tightening as BTC tests descending resistance, while calmer liquidations point toward a pivotal market decision.
- Bitcoin faces a key trendline test as support holds near $60,000, while derivatives data shows fewer extreme liquidation events ahead.
- Bitcoin trades near $64,518 as resistance caps rallies, while calmer liquidations show leverage has eased since June’s sharp cascade.
- A confirmed move above descending resistance could shift momentum higher, while rejection may return BTC toward established support levels.
Bitcoin breakout conditions are tightening as BTC consolidates beneath descending resistance, with derivatives activity pointing toward another decisive market test.
Descending Resistance Continues to Restrict Bitcoin
Bitcoin remains beneath a descending trendline that has controlled rallies for several weeks. The structure connects successive lower highs from the earlier advance. Consequently, each recovery toward resistance has encountered renewed selling pressure.

The chart places BTC near $64,518, after a prolonged retreat from the upper-$80,000 region. Price has since stabilized around the $60,000–$65,000 area. This range has repeatedly attracted buyers during recent weakness.
Crypto Rover described the setup as a potential make-or-break moment for Bitcoin. His observation centers on the trendline that continues limiting upside. He also linked a breakout with the possibility of broader cryptocurrency market strength.
For now, the technical structure remains unresolved beneath resistance. Buyers have defended lower levels, but they have not established sustained higher highs. That balance keeps the next confirmed move especially important.
Liquidation Data Shows Leverage Has Reset
The perpetual liquidation chart provides additional context for the current consolidation. Liquidation activity has become considerably quieter since the major June volatility event. Both long and short liquidations now appear smaller across most sessions.

June produced the chart’s largest liquidation cluster, particularly around the start of that month. A very large green bar indicated extensive long-position liquidations during the reversal. Additional red bars followed, showing forced exits among short positions.
That two-sided liquidation sequence demonstrated how quickly leveraged positioning can amplify price movements. Bitcoin subsequently moved toward the $60,000 area as excessive positions were removed. The event effectively reset much of the leverage accumulated during earlier market conditions.
Since then, liquidation bars have generally contracted across July and early August. This calmer environment suggests fewer oversized positions are immediately exposed to forced closure. However, renewed volatility could quickly rebuild liquidation pressure across either side.
Breakout Confirmation Becomes the Central Test
A decisive daily close above the descending trendline would provide the clearest bullish signal. The move would need follow-through rather than a brief intraday breach. A successful retest could then establish former resistance as potential support.
The first upside reference would sit around $70,000, based on previous price reactions. Further strength could bring the $75,000–$80,000 region into focus. Those levels could determine whether buyers can extend the recovery beyond the initial breakout.
Conversely, another rejection could return BTC toward the $60,000–$65,000 support area. A breakdown below established support would weaken the current consolidation structure. That scenario could also trigger renewed long liquidations if leverage increases beforehand.
The combined charts therefore present a clear technical decision point. Price remains compressed beneath descending resistance while liquidation activity stays relatively subdued. Until either side gains control, the market remains positioned between a breakout attempt and another rejection.
