Ethereum Price Breakout Tests $2,600 Resistance
Ethereum price momentum accelerates toward $2,600 as MACD strengthens, while RSI nears 80 and traders assess breakout support nearby.
- ETH has broken above its long consolidation range, but RSI near 80 signals that traders should monitor cooling momentum closely now.
- The daily MACD has turned sharply higher, supporting the breakout while $2,400 becomes an important key level for trend continuation.
- Historical expansion patterns point toward higher targets, although confirmation depends on sustained strength above breakout zones.
Ethereum price momentum is strengthening after a breakout toward $2,600, while overbought readings create a near-term test following weeks of consolidation beneath major resistance zones during recent daily trading.
Breakout Pushes Ethereum Toward $2,600
Ethereum price sat near $2,442 after reaching an intraday high around $2,529. The session showed a sharp advance followed by a modest pullback. Price remains well above the recent consolidation range near $1,850.

The breakout followed repeated resistance tests around $1,900 and $2,000. Buyers then pushed through $2,200 with strong daily candles. That sequence changed the short-term structure from sideways trading toward expansion.
The $2,400 area now provides an immediate reference for buyers. Holding above that zone would preserve the recent breakout structure. A deeper decline could instead return attention toward $2,200.
The previous range stretched across roughly $1,850 to $1,950. That range contained several weeks of relatively compressed price action. Consequently, the latest move arrived after prolonged market positioning.
Momentum Indicators Confirm Stronger Buying Pressure
MACD readings have shifted sharply higher on the displayed daily chart. The MACD line has moved above its signal line. Meanwhile, the histogram has expanded alongside the latest price advance.
This momentum confirms stronger buying pressure compared with earlier sessions. However, momentum indicators can change quickly after vertical price movements. Therefore, the next candles will help determine whether strength persists.
RSI currently stands near 79.99, placing it inside overbought territory. Such readings often appear during powerful advances and sustained trends. Still, elevated RSI can precede consolidation or temporary profit-taking.
The chart also shows Ethereum recovering from a deeper June decline. Price established a base near $1,550 before climbing toward $1,900. That recovery created the foundation for the later breakout.
$5,000 Target Faces Confirmation From Price Structure
Cup recently argued that ETH is entering another parabolic phase. The post linked $5,000 with a potential new all-time high. It also connected price discovery with a later altcoin rotation.
The weekly chart supports that argument through earlier expansion comparisons. It marks gains of approximately 166.27%, 222.18%, and 332.25%. Those measurements provide historical context for the current bullish scenario.
The largest projection begins from a reference level near $1,623. A comparable 332.25% expansion would approach the $6,800 region. However, that projection remains conditional on sustained upward price development.
For now, the breakout remains the central feature of the chart. Support near $2,400 could determine whether momentum continues higher. A sustained move beyond $2,600 would open the next resistance phase.
